During Professional Developers Conference (PDC) held on October 28, 2008 (see demo of Windows 7 features video clip), Microsoft has distributed a pre-beta build of Windows 7, which is also part of M3 (Milestone 3) code drop to the attendees. The alpha version of Windows 7 is contained inside a free 160GB external USB hard disk drive that also includes all the data bits from the PDC.

Microsoft Office Service Pack team has announced that Office 2007 SP2 will be out in early 2009. Although the exact date or month is not announced, it is mentioned that the date could fall between February and April 2009. New 20Th century pyramid

A particularly optimistic design firm in Dubai called Timelinks has proposed designs for the Ziggurat, a complete city to be layered inside of a massive pyramid that could serve as home for a million people at a time. Timelinks is currently seeking patents for a variety of technologies that would make such a building possible, including a three axis public transportation system that would run residents up, through and across the pyramid. They've also claimed that with a hybrid wind, solar and steam power the Ziggurat would be able to meet its own power needs, and that there would be enough room to allow for some minor agriculture in designated "green spaces."

Circular cell phone

Love it or hate it, you have to respect Motorola for loosening the reins of design and announcing the premium Aura handset. Inspired by high end watches, the phone's switch blade design alone is driven by over 200 parts—130 of them ball bearings used to open the handset up to an estimated 100,000 times before failure.



The display is the product of fine crafting as well. Just 1.55-inches in diameter, this "word's first" circular cellphone screen features 16 million colors and 300 dpi clarity, plus it's coated with 62-carat sapphire crystal to prevent scratching.

Internally, the phone is quad band with GPRS and EDGE featuring 7.3 hours of talk time, 2GB of internal memory, AGPS and 2MP camera. E-ink comes to cellphone

I was immediately drawn to this E-Ink cellphone concept by Anthony Reed—probably because it's so shiny. And for a moment, I was completely sold. That was, until I realized that the buttons were stagnant, not necessarily designed for constantly altered layouts but instead resembling any old run of the mill handset.



Still, the concept really is quite shiny and it's only time before e-inks get faster refresh times. So it's worth at least a moment of reflection as to the future of gadget design before we turn back to our LG Shines and Blackberries.

The spacecraft will orbit the Moon for two years, charting its mineral composition, searching for ice, and helium-3, all three fundamental for the establishment of a lunar outpost. Or a call center. It can go either way. Chandrayaan-1 is India's first mission to explore moon.

Want to send your images through Gmail but don't want to send them as attachments? Then here's how your can send them as images in the body of your email alongside your text:

Although Gmail lacks an 'insert image' button you can still add images using this simple method.
Ensure that rich-text editing is enabled in the Gmail message your are composing. To enable rich-text editing, click on the 'Rich Formatting' link.



If the image you want to use already exists on the web, open it in your browser. Once the image is loaded, press [Ctrl]+[A] to select the picture & [Ctrl]+[C] to copy it.

If the image is residing on your computer, upload it online using any image hosting service & the follow the above step to copy the uploaded image to clipboard.
Now position the cursor in the Gmail message where you want the image to appear & paste the image by pressing [Ctrl]+[V] key combination. Its work with yahoomail, gmail also others

Livestation, the previously invite-only streaming television player, has released its free desktop client for all platforms. The app cites an available 1,275 channels, but the majority are—how should we say—not essential viewing.



Still, there's live CNN, BBC, NBC News, Bloomberg, and a smattering of local stations. The full-screen "carousel" view is pretty slick, as is reducing the player to a corner and having it always stay on top. After creating your account, you can also watch live streams from Livestation's web site, and send twitters marking what you're watching. All in all, a pretty decent solution to quickly pulling up news and information while you're at your desktop. Livestation is a free download for Windows, Mac, and Linux systems; requires a free sign-up to use.

Like it when your game controller vibrates? You're part of the majority that ought to be impressed by all the goodness that haptic technology has to offer. Takayuki Iwamoto and his team at the University of Tokyo have developed a device that uses ultrasound waves to create invisible surfaces that you can feel, which means that eventually, you'll be able to poke your enemies in the eye, and feel the squish against your finger.



Called the Airborne Ultrasound Tactile Display, the device can only create fake surfaces in the vertical plane, and can't go beyond a certain intensity, lest it bust your eardrums. Eventually, though, the researchers hope to create a device that will let you interact with objects as you would in reality--squash soft stuff, bonk against hard surfaces, that sort of thing.

Once you have signed in and chosen a nick, you can enter your IDs on Xbox Live, PSN, World of Warcraft, Steam and others, then start entering the games in your collection.



Where it can, Raptr will pull data from your various networks and update your profile with a list of your current games, achievements and the like. There are plugins for displaying your data on Facebook et al too, of course.

A free client for PC or Mac will display and update data from you and your friends in real time as well as suck data from any games you play on your box — less of an issue for most Mac geeks, presumably.
