It's funny, the 100MB size restriction is the least of PSP Minis' problems. We're talking about closed box games, titles that are not only restricted in terms of multiplayer, but completely thwarted from doing anything interesting (like rendering superior graphics or, say, pinging twitter) in the cloud.

The Tories are today releasing more details of their plan to get Google and Microsoft involved in holding medical records.

The idea is that patients will be given some control over their own records, which could then be stored online. But the Tories seem to think that it would be a good idea to have a locally stored version too, for your doctor to use. Which seems to us to add another layer of complexity and cost. Admittedly, no one could claim the government has done a good job of looking after our data, but that doesn't mean that everyone in the country is able, or willing, to look after their own data.

Bank Will Allow Customers to Deposit Checks by iPhone - New York Times

The Internet has taken a lot of the paperwork out of banking, but there is no avoiding paper when someone gives you a check. Now one bank wants to let customers deposit checks immediately — through their phones.

USAA, a privately held bank and insurance company, plans to update its iPhone application this week to introduce the check deposit feature, which requires a customer to photograph both sides of the check with the phone's camera.

WD speeds up 2TB rollout - The Register

Western Digital appears to be accelerating its 2TB 3.5-inch drive from 5400rpm to 7200rpm if a weekend wave of European hard disk drive etailing mentions are to be believed.

WD introduced a desktop 2TB Caviar Green drive at the beginning of the year. Then there came an enterprise WD RE4-GP 2TB drive in April, and both rotated at 5400rpm. There have been rumours of a 7200rpm 2TB Caviar Black drive, with a Japanese promotion card mentioning it in June.

Hackers have discovered cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities on the UK's Ministry of Defence website.

The security shortcomings create a means for miscreants or pranksters to present content from a website under their control in a pop-up window that appears to come from the MoD. This class of flaw is very serious on banking or ecommerce websites, because it enables the creation of more plausible phishing attacks, and is best described as embarrassing in the case of the MoD. Affected portions of the MoD's website include the search engine of the MoD contracts sub-domain and the search page for the sub-domain of Sandhurst, the prestigious Army officer training college.

Firefox 3.6 trots into first alpha - The Register

Mozilla squirted out the first alpha version of Firefox 3.6 late on Friday.

The browser maker is also pretty confident that the next iteration of Firefox will rock up quite soon.

"Unlike the year that passed between Firefox 3 and Firefox 3.5, we expect that this 3.6 release will be released in a small number of months," said Mozilla evangelist Chris Blizzard.

Indeed, Firefox 3.5 became synonymous with the word delay, so-much-so that Mozilla changed the browser's name. It had carried the moniker Firefox 3.1, natch, considering it would follow Firefox 3.0.

Dell is poised to launch a mobile phone within days, it has been claimed.

A source with “knowledge of the situation” has said that Dell will announce the handset in China within the next day or two, according to a report by website TechCrunch. If the source’s information is correct, the launch will mark Dell’s entry into the mobile phone market.

Aside from saying that the handset is touchscreen operated, the source doesn’t appear to be blessed with much data about the mystery device’s technical specifications.

Tr.im Closes, Says Twitter Partly to Blame - PC World

The tr.im link shortening service was shutdown by operator Nambu Network on Sunday after the company failed to find a buyer for the service.

"We regret that it came to this, but all of our efforts to avoid it failed," the company wrote on its home page. "No business we approached wanted to purchase tr.im for even a minor amount."

The tr.im service was one of a number that will convert a conventional URL into a shorter alphanumeric string. When the tr.im URL is kicked the service redirects users to the original URL. The services are primarily designed for Twitter users who face a 140 character limit in messages they send although can be used in any application.

China Detains 13 Over Death at Internet Addict Camp - PC World

Chinese police have detained 13 people over the death by beating of a teenager at an Internet addiction camp in southern China, according to state media.

The Qihang Salvation Training Camp, one of many boot camp-style centers for Internet obsession in China, was found to be unlicensed and closed down Friday, the official Xinhua news agency said.

Parents of 122 other students took them home from the camp in Guangxi province and police are investigating the case, it said.

Toshiba to Launch Fuel-cell Charger Soon - PC World

Toshiba plans to launch an external battery charger based on a DMFC (direct methanol fuel cell) in the next two months, its new president said on Wednesday.

The charger will be a portable device that can be used to charge the batteries in portable gadgets such as cell phones, music players and portable game devices instead of plugging them into an electrical outlet.

DMFCs produce electricity from a reaction between methanol, water and air. The only by-products are a small amount of water vapor and carbon dioxide, so DMFCs are often seen as a greener source of energy than traditional batteries. Another advantage is that they can be replenished with a new cartridge of methanol in seconds.

An enterprising group of hackers have ripped apart Google's operating system and posted an x86 version that'll run on your desktop computer, so you can try out the open-source OS without buying a G1 or HTC Magic.

It's only just hit version 0.2, so relatively few video and network card drivers are working at the moment, but the team asks you to contact them if yours doesn't function, so they can add support. At the moment, it's very similar to the phone version, Cupcake 1.5, but the makers say they want it to be a "real OS" in the future.

If you fancy giving it a try, all you need to do is download an ISO file, burn it to a CD and then boot your PC from that CD. It'll work in a virtualization application too, like VirtualBox or Microsoft Virtual PC, if you want to try it without a reboot.

On first look, these "zoozoos" in Vodafone TV ads may resemble animated cartoon characters with an alien look or simply a stupid egg-head character with disproportional white bodies and black dots for eyes and mouth.

How to duel boot with windos 7 & Vista/XP

Prepare your system

Windows 7 creates a small "hidden" System partition on which it places the boot system files, bootmgr and the folder Boot. Windows XP needs to have access to that partition so that it too can place it's boot system files there. They are ntldr, boot.ini and NTDETECT.COM.

1. Assign a Drive Letter to the System Partition

Go to Disk Management in Windows 7 by right clicking Computer and select Manage and then Disk Management. Right click the drive tagged (System). It won't have a drive letter allocated, so that's the first thing you need to do so that it's visible to Windows XP setup . Allocate a drive letter by selecting "Change Drive Letter and Paths..." and then click Add and assign the first drive letter offered in the dialogue box that opens.

2. Create a Partition on which to install Windows XP

Unless you have a second hard drive on which to install Windows XP, you will need to create a partition on which to install it. You can achieve this by "shrinking" the Windows 7 partition. This will leave you with "unallocated" space on your hard drive and it's recommended that you do not actually create a partition or format it from within Windows 7 as Windows XP uses an earlier version of the file system NTFS.

Still in Disk Management, right click the large Windows 7 installation partition and select "Shrink Volume". After disk management has finished querying the available shrink space, a dialogue box will open where you need to insert the amount of space you want to shrink the partition by. Click on Shrink when you've decided how much space you want available for Windows XP.

Care and some judgment needs to be exercised here as selecting the offered default WILL result in inadequate space being left available for the use of Windows 7.

You will now be left with unallocated space at the end of your drive. As previously mentioned, it's recommended that you do not create a partition or format it from Windows 7. That is best done using Windows XP setup so that the fully compatible Windows XP NTFS file system is applied to the partition.

Install Windows XP

Insert your Windows XP setup disc, restart your system and boot to your XP CD to install Windows XP. When you get to the setup screen where the drives/partitions are listed, select the unpartitioned space you created in Windows 7 and create a partition by pressing C on the keyboard. Once the partition is created, press Enter to install XP on that partition and then format the partition. A quick format is fine.

Create a Dual Boot Menu using VistaBootPRO

Once you have completed the installation of Windows XP you will have temporarily lost your ability to boot into Windows 7. You will now need to restore a dual boot to both Windows 7 and Windows XP.

It is recommended that you install all device drivers in Windows XP or at the very least, the Chipset drivers for your motherboard. After that is done, download and install VistaBootPRO and be sure to follow the prompts to install the applications Prerequisites, .Net Framework 2.00 or higher, as VistaBootPRO will not run without it.

Open VistaBootPRO, ignore the prompt to backup your BCD. Go to the System Bootloader tab, select "Windows Vista Bootloader" in the first section and "All Drives" in the second section and then click Install Bootloader . Next, go to the Diagnostics item on the menu bar and select "Run Diagnostics". VistaBootPRO will default back to the Manage OS Entries page and you will see that you now have entries there for "Windows 7" as well as "Earlier version of Windows". Change the name of the Windows XP entry using VistaBootPRO if you wish. Restart your system and select the operating system you would like to boot to.

Microsoft Office 2007's successor has been creating a buzz on the web since last two days. A beta tester from Microsoft enthusiast Russian site wzor.net has leaked the Office 14 application screenshots. Earlier, Microsoft had said the server components of this Office 14 suite were given out for beta testing.

Dubbed as Office 14 (version number or code name), Microsoft Office's recent version Office 2007 was codenamed as Office 12. Anyone might wonder why Microsoft skipped number 13 for their Office productivity suite. Superstitious, may be?

The list of applications included in Office 14 suite are: Word 14, Excel 14, Powerpoint 14, Outlook 14, Access 14, InfoPath Designer 14, InfoPath Filler 14, Publisher 14, Groove 14, InterConnect 14, SharePoint Designer 14, OneNote 14, Visio 14 and Project 14.

Microsoft refused to comment on the screenshots and availability of the Office 14. However, the Russian site wzor.net mentioned beta version of Office 14 might come out in May and its final version would be released by year end.

Remove send feedback link from windows 7

With windows 7 Microsoft has include send feedback bottom in every windows & its very annoying to see near the minimize bottom. You can remove the this with a simple hack.

1. Click on the start menu and Click Run-> regedit.
2. This opens the registry editor. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop. Here you can see an entry by name FeedbackToolEnabled.
3. Double click on the DWORD value and make it to 0 from the current value.
4. Close the editor and log off Windows to take the effect.

Next time you log into Windows 7, you will not see the Send Feedback link.

The new version is said to debut with Office Web, which will bring Word, Excel, and the rest of the Office family to your browser. Looks like you've got one more year to get comfortable with Office 2007 before you step into an Office 14 world.

How to get windows 7 porduct key

Step 1: Log onto [technet.microsoft.com] by clicking on "Sign in" in the upper right corner with your Microsoft Passport ID. (i.e.: Hotmail, etc.)

Step 2: Copy (don't CLICK!) one of the links below to the address bar and press Enter.

32-Bit key: [www.microsoft.com] (Copy and Paste!)

64-bit key: [www.microsoft.com] (Copy and Paste!)

Tip: You can use the 64-bit during a 32-bit installation and a 32-bit key during a 64-bit installation. (It seems that getting a 64-bit key is faster!)

Step 3: If you receive an error, just press CTRL+ F5 (non-cache reload) to refresh. (I had to refresh more than 10 times before I received the key), if you're being redirected then you didn't follow the steps 1 and 2 correctly!

If you followed the steps correct you should see your key (depending on your version it could also say Windows 7 Beta 32-bit Product Key).

AeroPeek for XP/Vista

Aero Peek is one of the new features that gets introduced in the new Microsoft operating system Windows 7 that is poised to come out later this year. Aero Peek actually refers to a set of features that are introduced, one of them with the ability to show the computer desktop hiding all active windows in the process. The feature in Windows 7 is enabled by hovering over an icon in the Windows 7 Task Bar.

AeroPeek for Windows XP and Windows Vista tries to mimic that behavior. It works by clicking on the program’s system tray icon which will hide all active windows and display the computer desktop instead. Another click on the icon will display the windows again. This is different from the behavior in Windows 7 as it is now possible to interact with desktop elements.

The main use for this feature however is the display of desktop gadgets and other information that are displayed on the desktop. It is different from pressing [Windows D] which will minimize all windows and bring them back upon pressing the keyboard shortcut again. Windows D may change the active window when used while Aero Peek will always return to the window that has been active before.

What? Where? When? is a new Google Map mashup that uses the Flickr API to show where in the world photos have been taken. It possible to search for photos with a particular tag and areas with photographs matching that tag will be shown on the map by a yellow circle. The size of the circle at any given place indicates how many photos were taken there.

You can click on a circle to see photos taken in that area, or zoom in if there are lots of overlapping areas. The photgraphs are shown film strip style along the bottom of the screen.

The whole idea of apps like GMDesk is to get your web-based productivity tools onto your desktop, without the need for a browser.
